Matt Einheuser gave an update on Stantec, they completed plantings in the Avon prairie, Innovation Hills and Harding Pond green spaces. Phragmites treatments on green spaces and throughout the community have also been completed. The phragmites program continues to grow as well, about 5 new applications a year. Member Morris asked if the phragmites will come back. Einheuser explained that yes, they will come back and discussion ensued.
Einheuser mentioned that the Stantec contract expires at the end of the year. It went out to RFP, and there have been 4 responses to it. The next step is scoring and looking over proposals to choose the best fit.
Einheuser explained how staff worked with the Oakland County CISMA to host a Fall Native Plant Giveaway on September 28, 2024. Over 120 people registered for free plants
Einheuser recognized Vice Chairperson Bruce and Member Morris for attending the HOA forum and representing Green Space. While it seemed slower than previous years, there were good interactions had with those that attended.
Einheuser talked about how he and Member Morris presented to City Council, updating them on the Green Space Advisory Board.
Einheuser discussed that HRC to complete preliminary engineering and design for eagles landing and Innovation Hills to see what they may look like. Also, the cleanup projects for the contaminated areas at the Auburn green space and Ruby extension went to City Council and the contract was approved. This project might begin this fall or in 2025.

Einheuser explained staff is still meeting with experts to see what would happen if no stabilization done. He did mention another grant that we may be able to get to help with the cost. At this time there are three options, do design that was approved by state and grant, do nothing, or see if there is a middle ground to stabilize some of it. It is starting to correct itself with the trees that have fallen and such. We could possibly stabilize the top to keep it from falling into itself with some securing at the bottom. Member Malhotra asked about putting markers in bank to monitor it. Discussion ensued.
|
Einheuser updated members on the status of the bridge, it has been completed and the site is restored. There will be a small grand opening on October 30, 2024 at 4 pm. All Green Space members are invited. The trail loop is marked; member Strunk mentioned that the signs are well written and look great. Trail counters will be on both sides of the bridge. Discussion ensued.
|
Einheuser updated members on the status of purchasing the Bee property. City council approved the grant to purchase the property last night. Once the state signs that, city council will have to approve signing a purchase agreement with the landowner. We are hoping to have it completed by end of the year. Discussion ensued.
