CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Carvey called the Green Space Advisory Board meeting to order 
at 7:00 p.m.

the Regular Meeting of April 26, 2011 as presented.
COMMUNICATIONS
Members Gauthier and Graham received copies of the 2011-2015 Parks & 
Recreation Master Plan CD and internal contact list.

Rochester Hills resident, Gary Uhl was in attendance.

Green Space Properties Protection Policy
Mr. Gary Uhl, Rochester Hills resident, presented a draft charter amendment 
regarding the "use and disposition of city-owned real estate" for which he was 
seeking support from GSAB .  
 
Mr. Uhl exited the meeting.  Member Kochendorfer exited the meeting at 7:50 
p.m. and returned at 8:00 p.m.
 
For the record, Chairperson Carvey submitted an e-mail dated May 25, 2011 
addressed to Mayor Barnett and City Council that stated the following:
 
"At the GSAB meeting last evening, Mr. Gary Uhl was in attendance.  Mr. Uhl 
was seeking support for a charter amendment.  After a very thoughtful 
discussion of the "Use and Disposition of City-owned Real Estate" proposed 
amendment it was a consensus by the board that property purchased by the 
Green Space Millage is presently permanently protected by the millage 
language. Further, by including green space as stated in the amendment might 
indeed weaken that protection.  It appeared Mr. Uhl was in agreement with the 
Board's position and plans to revise the proposed amendment.  The Board 
members thanked Mr. Uhl for attending and presenting the homeowner's views 
on protecting parks and open space within Rochester Hills.  No further action 
was taken by the GSAB."

Member Carvey was appointed Chairperson of the Administrative & Strategic 
Sub-Committee.

Member Tilove was appointed Chairperson of the Communication, Promotion & 
Education Sub-Committee.  Objectives are signage for open spaces, and refine 
message regarding protection, appreciation and stewardship.

Member Gauthier was appointed Chairperson of Property & Acquisitions 
Sub-committee.  Goal is to support the mission and activity of the GSAB.

Member Peterson was appointed Chairperson of Stewardship & Advocacy 
Sub-committee.  Objectives are: (1) research and coordinate grant 
opportunities for stewardship with the City's grant coordinator; (2) explore the 
use of volunteers from scout troops and other civic organizations regarding 
preservation; and (3) request Naturalist Lance DeVoe to discuss methods of 
removal of invasive plants and determine when training can take place.
