CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Windscheif called the Green Space Advisory Board meeting to 
order at 7:02 p.m.

COMMUNICATIONS
Pamphlets were distributed to board members regarding upcoming Land and 
Water Stewardship Workshops in the Shiawassee, Genesee and Lapeer 
County areas.
 
Member Laura Douglas reported that she will be attending a free two-part 
seminar on the nuts and bolts of organizing a volunteer work day.
 
A general discussion ensued regarding the Community Foundation of Greater 
Rochester and matching grant opportunities.  Member Carvey will contact Ms. 
Peggy Hamilton, Executive Director of the Community Foundation, to options to 
GSAB.
 
Chairperson Windscheif read a proclamation to thank former GSAB member 
Pam Wallace and her husband Andy Krupp for their service.  They were unable 
to attend this meeting due to a conflict.  Mr. Windscheif will forward the 
proclamation to them.

GSAB Property Nominations & Acquisitions Sub-Committee
Member Gauthier verified that board members had received a communication 
regarding the Yates property nomination being placed on hold per the request of 
the property owner.

GSAB Stewardship & Advocacy Sub-Committee
Member Carvey reported that he met with Mr. Mike Hartner, Director of Parks & 
Forestry, to discuss the Stewardship presentation.  It was suggested to 
recommend that Council set a policy by agreeing to move forward with a 
stewardship program.  The Administration will determine to what level the Parks 
& Forestry Department will participate as well as how a stewardship program will 
be implemented.  The presentation will include a draft resolution to recommend 
that City Council concurs with a stewardship program. The consensus was to 
finalize the presentation and present it City Council before the end of March.
 
Member Raschke reported that the Paint Creek Trailways Commission is 
currently in the process of formulating a three-tiered encroachment policy 
applicable to properties abutting the Paint Creek Trail.  The Trailways 
Commission would be willing to share their policy with GSAB to help with a 
stewardship program.
 
A suggestion was made to form something like a "Friends of the Green Space" 
to partner with the Community Foundation.  GSAB could communicate the 
recycle bank and stewardship fund to residents.  Chairperson Windscheif 
offered to speak with Mayor Barnett on how the recycle bank and stewardship 
fund will be communicated to residents.

Letter of Appreciation for Volunteer Participation in GSAB Activities
Member Oriet submitted a sample draft letter of recognition and appreciation of 
volunteer hours for GSAB stewardship activities.  It was suggested that the 
letter would also contain the number of hours of volunteer service.  The finalized 
letter could be added to the GSAB web page.  The consensus was to adopt the 
appreciation letter as a GSAB policy.
A motion was made by Peterson, seconded by Carvey, that this matter be

No report of any new nominations at this time.  Member Gauthier will contact 
Mr. Hartner to determine if a site visit can be scheduled for the nomination 
property, Clear Creek No. 5 off Sheldon and Mead Roads.
