| | Member Gauthier offered to contact the Clinton River Watershed and the |
|
| | Friends of the Clinton River Trail to ask that they include the Discovery Hike |
|
| | information in their newsletter. Member Graves has contacted the |
|
| | Rochester College events coordinator to discuss the distribution of the |
|
| | Discovery Hike information to students and staff and will ask if anyone is |
|
| | interested in volunteering to talk about the College’s open space area with |
|
| | hikers. Mr. Hartner’s staff has a spreadsheet containing e-mail addresses |
|
| | of last year’s participants which could also be invited. |
|
| | * The stewardship fund that was established at the Community Foundation |
|
| | is an endowed fund to maximize tax advantages to donors. Only interest |
|
| | earned can be granted. The current principal balance is approximately |
|
| | $2,200 with minimal interest earned. Any future donations could be set up in |
|
| | a non-endowed fund whereby principle and interest would be available for |
|
| | stewardship projects. The Community Foundation has provided donation |
|
| | envelopes to be used at the information booths. |

| | * Mr. Hartner distributed a newly created map by the MIS Department |
|
| | showing all the open space properties along the trail where the hike will take |
|
| | place. The reverse side contained a brief description of the green space |
|
| | parcels, the Green Space Advisory Board and their mission, along with |
|
| | some related web site resources. This map can be used by the hikers for |
|
| | reference, education and hopefully gain the understanding that this portion of |
|
| | the Clinton River Trail corridor is being protected for everyone. Mr. Hartner |
|
| | asked that Board members review the verbiage on the back side of the map |
|
| | and advise him of any suggestions. |

| | * Mr. Hartner also distributed the individual green space parcel maps that |
|
| | the MIS Department created from the baseline assessment report provided |
|
| | by Niswander Environmental LLC. The maps can be used at the individual |
|
| | stations to discuss each parcel with the hikers. Staff will assemble handouts |
|
| | that include Clinton River Trail maps, Oakland County Trail maps, Six |
|
| | Rivers Conservancy handouts and 100 small bags from the Mayor’s Office |
|
| | to hold pamphlets for the hikers and keep the trail neat. It was suggested to |
