Matt Einheuser explained to members that Stantec has been providing general herbicide treatments for herbaceous invasives and noxious weeds over the last month on our green spaces. This includes Ruby Green Space, Innovation Hills Green Space, and Harding Green Space. In addition, some woody invasives expansion in Clear Creek and Auburn occurred earlier in May.
Einheuser discussed OAK in the Hills and gave a shout out to Members Bennett and McCurdy for volunteering at the event. The face painter set up nearby worked very well, we will look into having two painters next year.
Einheuser mentioned Staff met with Stantec to discuss the status and reporting for the current SOGL grant, which provided funds to go towards invasives work over the next 3 years. This is a matching grant, and we needed to make sure we are on track to spend our share to clean up invasives.
Einheuser discussed the cleanup of the Bee property. He explained that the Bee property has way too much glass and debris to have volunteers do the work. He mentioned that Staff worked with City contractors to put together a plan and EGLE approved it. The plan is to scoop the top foot or so of debris, bring in clean soil and have Stantec plant it. Hoping to do this through the Stewardship contract. Discussion ensued.
Einheuser mentioned Staff met with purchasing and potential bidders for the demolition projects on the Bee property, Livernois property and Velodrome at Bloomer.
Einheuser explained that Staff coordinated our 2025 West Nile Virus program where we place mosquito larvicide dunks in storm sumps throughout the city (2400 sites). We also gave out insect repellent and mosquito dunks to residents as part of this program.
Einheuser discussed that Staff floated down the Clinton River to identify woody debris issues and worked with the contractor to remove hazards and jams. Along with this, Staff attended an Oakland County Clinton River Water Trail Meeting to discuss river projects, woody debris, paddling safety, etc.
Einheuser explained that the Eagles Landing and Innovation Hills River projects are currently out for public review and have been pre-approved from EGLE. We are looking to put out an RFP later this summer.

Chairperson Graves updated members on the trust. He indicated that last year Member Bruce had brought up the fact that while the Trust has a principle, it is not necessarily growing with inflation. He explained Joe Snyder and the trust board had designed a plan and general policy to account for that inflation long term and continue to have a sufficient annual stewardship budget.

Einheuser gave a mid-year updated to members on how things are going with the 2025 projects and budget. At this time, approximately $100,000.00 of the $267,000.00 has been used. Discussion ensued.
