Pat McKay announced that James Mallon had resigned from the board. He thanked him for many years of service.
McKay discussed the Calf Barn lighting; the lights need to be replaced. They will also be improving the audio and visual equipment in the Calf Barn. There will be an updated drinking fountain added to the Children's Garden to include a dog fountain as well.
McKay discussed the City’s structural analysis on the Museum buildings. They noticed some issues in the schoolhouse that need to be addressed. Each building has some minor items that will need to be fixed and $300,000 was budgeted for those repairs in 2025. He also mentioned the Big Barn and that $40,000 that has been set aside for the schematic design in 2025. Once we have an idea of the cost we can ask for the right amount in grants and private fundraising. McKay also discussed the parking lots being replaced. Discussion ensued.
McKay did request a new part time position for archives and programs. That was not approved. Nathan Mueller mentioned that Ken Elwert is working on a grounds study city wide. Discussion ensued.
McKay mentioned that the Museum has three major priorities. Maintaining buildings and the grounds, providing public and educational program, and maintaining community archives. Discussion ensued.
Cathy Fitzpatrick discussed the different types of programming that we do here at the Museum to touch on all of our different audiences. Fitzpatrick mentioned we are always looking for community partnerships. We have many Rochester Community Schools field trips. Van Hoosen Middle School reached out about their 50th anniversary and the Museum designed information panels for them. The Museum ran a Presidential Lecture Series in the fall. Discussion ensued.
Fitzpatrick discussed a scout day. They completed one in the fall and will have another date in the spring. Fall is busy with activities including the Masquerade, Pumpkin Festival and more. Fitzpatrick mentioned Music Shape, a nonprofit group that works with music. Discussion ensued.
Pat McKay discussed Samantha’s programs, Tea in the Farmhouse and a conference she is attending. McKay discussed moving 117 boxes to DPS for storage. Discussion ensued.
Pat McKay discussed that the fund has been hovering in the $500,000-600,000 range. The goal is to get it to $1,000,000. McKay and Carol Morlan discussed their meeting with Dave LewAllen. They hoped to have him as a spokesperson for the endowment campaign. The meeting went well and he is on board. McKay is very optimistic that we will reach the $1,000,000 goal in 2025. Discussion ensued.
