| commissioners that prior to submitting their site plan and prior to beginning |
| their soccer season, they made every effort to resolve problems with their |
| neighbors. The neighbors indicated that they wanted more screening so |
| the soccer balls would not come into their yards because they were |
| concerned about liability. Prior to the May Planning Commission meeting, |
| Brookfield Academy sent a letter to the neighbors before their soccer |
| season began, noting that they purchased benches for their teams and a |
| bleacher to keep their people on one side of the field. Their coaches had |
| been instructed to guard the other side of the field from any balls going into |
| neighbor's yards. This was done as an attempt to resolve the resident's |
| concerns. He referenced a letter addressed to Mr. Carl Moore dated |
| 4/30/96 that he wrote in response to Mr. Moore's complaints about soccer |
| balls going into his yard. He explained to Mr. Moore that they had |
| purchased a bleacher and benches to solve this problem. The resident's |
| came to the May Planning Commission meeting dissatisfied with their |
| solution. Then, Brookfield Academy met with the dissatisfied neighbors |
| after the Planning Commission meeting and invited them to the school for a |
| meeting. He met with his staff and the architect to figure out how they could |
| further satisfy their neighbors in addition to what they had already done. He |
| noted that during the first construction of their school, they planted along |
| their neighbor's property lines. During the second addition for their |
| gymnasium, they put in additional plantings. Now, they have a third plan |
| showing all the new plantings in an effort to satisfy their neighbors. That is |
| when they scheduled the most recent meeting with the neighbors. When |
| the architect outlined all of the new plantings at the meeting, the neighbors |
| were uninterested in fences and totally uninterested in plantings. They only |
| expressed concern that there was too much noise. He said the neighbors |
| are trying to find a way to destroy their soccer program. He said they were |
| asked to sign a letter stating that they would not have any more Saturday |
| games. Brookfield Academy signed the letter and then the residents sent a |
| petition back to them stating their dissatisfaction, and further requesting |
| that trees be planted inside the soccer field. |

| Cynthia DeGrove, 1181 S. Adams Rd., said the neighbors bordering the |
| Brookfield Academy did meet with Dr. Weinberg and his architect after the |
| June 4th Planning Commission meeting to review their concerns regarding |
| the proposed addition. The response from Brookfield Academy was |
| addressed in a letter to the Planning Commission dated 6/12/96 and a |
| reply was offered from the neighbors in a letter dated 6/27/96. She said |
| she appreciates the school's willingness to move the competitive weekend |
| soccer games from the field, she feels there were other issues brought up |
