Request for Authorization to enter into the Oakland County Building Officials Association Damage Assessment Mutual Aid Agreement

Whereas, Damage Assessment Services can be improved by cooperation between political subdivisions during times of public emergency or disaster ("Incidents");
Whereas, the Michigan Constitution of 1963, Article 7, ยง 28, and the Urban Cooperation Act of 1967, Act No. 7 of the Public Acts of 1967, Ex. Sess., being MCl 124.501 et seq. (the "Act"), permit a political subdivision to exercise jointly with any other political subdivision any power, privilege or authority which such political subdivisions share in common and which each might exercise separately;
Whereas, the Parties desire to enter into an interlocal agreement, pursuant to the Act, to further improve Damage Assessment Services;
Whereas, each Party has the authority to execute this Agreement pursuant to resolution of its governing body; and
Whereas, each Party desires to commit personnel and equipment to another Party upon the request of another Party;
Whereas, the Michigan Constitution and the people of the State of Michigan have long recognized the value of cooperation by and among the state and its political subdivisions;
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Rochester Hills City Council hereby approves entering into the Oakland County Building Officials Association Damage Assessment Mutual Aid Agreement and authorizes the Mayor to execute the Inter Local Agreement on behalf of the City.
