The City of Rochester Hills recognizes Lou Magic and Mike McKechnie for their willingness to selflessly put their own lives in jeopardy to assist in the rescue of another citizen.
 
Body
On January 27, 2007, while ice fishing on Lake St. Clair, Lou Magic and Mike McKechnie witnessed a life- threatening snowmobile accident.  The snowmobile, carrying a father and his young son, broke through the ice and the riders were submerged in the frigid water. Mr. Magic and Mr. Mckechnie responded quickly and courageously to the emergency situation.
 
WHEREAS, Lou Magic and Mike McKechnie, aware of the danger to themselves, put their lives in jeopardy by proceeding onto thin ice to rescue the father and son; and
 
WHEREAS, Lou Magic and Mike McKechnie, demonstrating heroism and very quick thinking, were able to reach the victims, elicit the help of others to form a "hand-to-ankle" human chain, and pull the father and son to safety; and
 
WHEREAS, As a result of the immediate action taken by Lou Magic and Mike McKechnie, the father and his young son were rescued from the danger of hypothermia or drowning in the frigid water; and
 
WHEREAS, The City of Rochester Hills is extremely proud of the heroic effort put forth by Lou Magic and Mike McKechnie, and would like to commend them for a job well done.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT KNOWN, that the Mayor and City Council of Rochester Hills hereby recognize Lou Magic and Mike McKechnie for their bravery, and their willingness to put their own lives in jeopardy to assist in the rescue of another.
