Proclamation in Recognition of the Rochester Hills Safety Committee

Whereas, the Michigan Municipal League Workers' Compensation Fund has named the City of Rochester Hills as one of two organizations to receive the "Most Improved" Award during the annual Loss Control Achievement Awards; and
Whereas, in the past several years, Workers' Compensation insurance claims have trended upwards, creating a situation that demanded action; and
Whereas, under the direction of the Human Resources Department, a Safety Committee was established and challenged with the task of identifying concerns and potential solutions to create a safer work environment; and
Whereas, the Safety Committee has been an overwhelming success as claims in 2009 have dropped over 63% and as a result have reduced our Workers' Compensation Premiums by more than $100,000.
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Rochester Hills hereby congratulate Committee Chair Helen Sultana-Kelly, and all the members of the Safety Committee for their hard work and success in emphasizing the practice of good safety principles on the job and in our homes.
