Proclamation in recognition of Eagle Scout Chris Ogg for his outstanding achievement in planning, implementing and completing his Eagle Scout Project at Veterans Memorial Pointe

Whereas, Boy Scouts of America provides young men with opportunities to become proficient outdoorsmen, learn skills, and participate in community activities; and
 
Whereas, Young men, who master scouting skills, dedicate their efforts to upholding the Boy Scout Pledge and serve their community with honor, can attain the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting; and
 
Whereas, Chris Ogg, Boy Scout Troop 125, planned, organized and executed a major service project to build an Honor Guard Station at Veterans Memorial Pointe to benefit veterans.  The Honor Guard Station is a place of honor for Veterans to be able to safely discharge their weapons during ceremonies; and
 
Whereas, In addition to designing, planning, and raising the necessary funds, Chris inspired 22 volunteers to work approximately 236 hours on this project.  The Honor Guard Station was used for the first time on Memorial Day 2010; and
 
Whereas, Chris has been an active scout, participating in High Adventures Scouting including hiking at the Philmont Scout ranch in New Mexico and hiking the Appalachian Trail. He also served on the Mackinaw Island Honor Guard in 2009.
 
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of Rochester Hills hereby recognize and congratulate Chris Ogg on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and offer our best wishes for his future success in Law Enforcement.
