Proclamation in Recognition of Eagle Scout Helaman Sanchez for his outstanding achievement in planning, implementing and completing his Eagle Scout Project at Veterans Memorial Pointe

Whereas, in the fall of 2011, Helaman Sanchez from Boy Scout Troop 298 planted 15 trees at Veterans Memorial Pointe for his Eagle Scout Project; and
Whereas, Helaman planted a mixture of Maple and Willow trees all around the memorial area. In time, these trees will help replace some of the trees lost by the Emerald Ash Borer, which affected over half of the trees around the Pointe; and
Whereas, Helaman had to organize volunteers and fellow scouts to raise the funds needed to purchase the trees. The trees were then planted, staked in place and wood chips added around them before winter set in; and
Whereas, due to Helaman's hard work and diligence, all the trees made it through the winter with flying colors!
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Rochester Hills hereby recognize and thank Helaman for his dedication to Veterans Memorial Pointe. Good job Eagle Scout Helaman!
