Proclamation in Recognition of Scott Cope, Director of Building

 

Body

Whereas, on the occasion of his retirement, the Mayor, along with the Department Directors and Building/Ordinance/Facilities team, wish to express their sincere appreciation to Scott Cope for his unwavering professionalism, commitment, leadership and loyalty to the City of Rochester Hills; and

 

Whereas, Scott has committed his time and talents to the City of Rochester Hills for nearly four decades in various roles, beginning in 1984 as a Pump Maintenance trainee in the Department of Public Services, transitioning to the Building Department in 1995, and capping his career as the Director of Building, Ordinance and Facilities for the last 22 years; and

 

Whereas, Scott changed the culture of the Building Department by incorporating input from staff to create the Department Plan with a vision to be the best Building Department in the eyes of our customers and peers; and 

 

Whereas, professionally, Scott is highly respected for his leadership in the industry and reputation for best practices, having guided Rochester Hills through IAS Accreditation as the first Michigan Building Department and one of only 22 accredited building departments internationally; and

 

Whereas, personally, Scott is admired for his calm and steady demeanor, his kind and genuine heart, and a good Dad joke.

 

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Mayor, Directors, and the Building, Ordinance, and Facilities team hereby recognize Scott Cope for his dedication and service to the City of Rochester Hills, and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors, whether it be motor crossing, horseback riding, camping, or spending time with his family.

 

Be It Further Resolved, that on behalf of the entire city staff, we wish Scott health, happiness, and the very best in his retirement.
