Proclamation in Recognition of William "Ed" Leafdale
Body
Whereas, on October 5, 1974 Ed married his beautiful wife Debbie and together they raised their daughters, Holly and Jaime. Ed and Debbie have also been blessed with two amazing grandchildren, Jayden and Ava; and
Whereas, during his career with the Department of Public Services, Ed worked side by side with his brother Bud, and together they set the standard for professionalism; and
Whereas, Ed has always been known for being an invaluable member of our city team and an honorable and loyal friend. Ed’s personnel file is overflowing with letters and thank you notes from residents commending him for consistently going beyond the call of duty. In addition, Ed is known far and wide as the hero of lost dogs and trapped ducks; and
Whereas, over the years, Ed has received numerous accolades for his outstanding service as both an employee and a member of our community. Some of the recognitions Ed has received are Employee of the Year, Rochester Hometown Parade Grand Marshall, Veteran of the Year, and Outstanding Commander for the 5th District; and
Whereas, Ed was the force behind the creation and expansion of Veterans Memorial Pointe. Through hard work and dedication, Ed was instrumental in creating a beautiful place designed for reflection and recognition of the veterans who serve and have served our country. The lovely and peaceful Memorial Pointe is a place of honor and an opportunity for others to become a part of something lasting and special through the Memorial Brick program; and
Whereas, Ed has helped many Eagle Scouts earn their badge by supervising projects throughout the city. The projects are one of the final steps necessary for Scouts to earn the highly esteemed rank of Eagle Scout. At the same time, our residents and visitors enjoy these projects, and the City of Rochester Hills is made better because of them.
