Proclamation in Recognition of Ricky Milliron for his outstanding act of heroism and courage in saving the life of a family member

On July 7, 2008, 15-year-old Ricky Milliron was vacationing with his family in Caseville, Michigan when Ricky Milliron, using excellent judgment and swimming skill, was able to save the life of a family member.
Whereas, Ricky Milliron was swimming in Saginaw Bay with his Mother's cousin Barb; and
Whereas, Saginaw Bay is shallow and the bottom is unpredictable and Ricky and Barb waded out a considerable distance; and
Whereas, Ricky and Barb came upon a sudden drop-off and could not touch bottom; and
Whereas, Barb began to panic and Ricky yelled for help, but they were out too far to be heard; and
Whereas, when Barb began to falter and could not stay above water, Ricky was frightened, but kept pulling Barb in until he could touch the bottom. Once he could touch bottom, Ricky was able to bring both Barb and himself to safety.
Now, Therefore, Be It Known, that the Mayor and City Council of Rochester Hills hereby recognize Ricky Milliron for his outstanding act of heroism and courage in saving the life of a family member.
