Proclamation in Recognition of Cheryl Stroud
Body
Whereas, Mrs. Cheryl Stroud is a resident of Rochester Hills and the Assistant Center Director at Mathnasium in Rochester Hills; and
Whereas, while at the front desk of Mathnasium on September 4, 2018, Cheryl heard a student begin to cough in a way that concerned her; and
Whereas, Cheryl took it upon herself to walk to the back, where she observed he was turning blue in the face and seemed to not be able to catch his breath; and
Whereas, she spoke to him and immediately began administering the Heimlich maneuver several times until a lodged hard candy shot out of his mouth; and
Whereas, Cheryl’s vigilance, quick thinking, and appropriate action opened this young man’s airway and saved him from choking.
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of Rochester Hills hereby commend Cheryl Stroud for her heroic deed, thank her for recognizing a need and taking swift action, and offer their best wishes for her happiness and success in all her future endeavors.
