Lance DeVoe gave an update on Ruby, they removed all the plastic mesh that was put down by the contractor in error. It will be sprayed again, DeVoe will till the land and it will be planted in late September.
DeVoe said most of the signs are installed. Matt Einheuser mentioned that a resident stopped into the city because he saw a sign and was happy about it. DeVoe mentioned that there are still a few to order and install. Discussion ensued.
Terry Stephens thought it would be helpful to have a plant guide specific to each green space. Matt Einheuser said we could do some maps, and the map could have pictures of certain plants and trees that are located in that space. Discussion ensued. Lance DeVoe will put together a packet of general information.
Matt Einheuser has no new information but would like to keep it on the agenda.
Matt Einheuser said it is still in the hands of the attorney. The attorney did have a few minor revisions but will be looking at it again.
Matt Einheuser said city council approved the donation pending a phase 1 environmental assessment. We should have that report soon. The property is 4 acres adjacent to the Ruby Green Space. The woman who is donating did not want any acknowledgement or publication. Einheuser had a thank you note for the committee to sign and the Mayor’s office can send it to her when the time is right.

Terry Stephens had recommendations for making changes, six pages of the guide. Matt Einheuser spoke with MIS and the changes should not be a problem
to complete. Discussion ensued.
Re-Nominated property - Meldon Ln. |
|
Matt Einheuser said James Fox nominated a 1.3 acre property that had been previously nominated. Einheuser rescored, with a 55. Fox would like to sell, not donate, the property. It is mainly wetland and floodplain. Discussion ensued. The committee decided they will walk the property before the next meeting.
Green Space property encroachment and future outreach |
|
Lance DeVoe said that the residents encroaching on the property received written notices 2 years ago. The group is concerned about the liability of a fire pit, trampoline, play structures etc. Matt Einheuser said our arborists will be doing a risk assessment of the trees on the Innovation Hills Green Space easement. While the arborists are out there they can check for encroachment. DeVoe said the area needs to be resurveyed and staked. Discussion ensued.
Jayson Graves provided an update on Lifetime, they are looking for bids for the work that needs to be completed.
Tim Gauthier mentioned some other properties near Cloverport and Rochester College that would be great green spaces. Discussion ensued.
The next meeting will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 6:00 pm. It will begin at the Meldon Lane property and move to City Hall.
There being no further business to discuss, Chairperson Peterson adjourned the meeting at 7:07 p.m.
Minutes prepared by Megan Stencel.
