Chairperson Peterson called the Green Space Advisory Board meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Approval of Minutes - Regular Meeting - January 23, 2018

Director Elwert introduced Matt Einheuser who will be working with Lance on Green Space moving forward.
Director Elwert explained we have a request from the Youth Council for a member to attend a meeting on Saturday, May 5, 2018. He expressed an interest in having someone from GSAB participate.
|
Phil Leach inquired about signage. Director Elwert responded that we are in process and will bring another concept to GSAB in line with city style guide.
Director Elwert mentioned that the City will be partnering again with Meadow Brook for Arbor Day this year.
|
Sandra Hicks commented on and discussed the upcoming Arbor Day event on April 27th.
The GSAB thanked Sandy for service.

2018 Goals

Director Elwert discussed 2018 goals and whether the GSAB would like to identify specifics. Discussion ensued from members regarding potential goals/objectives and the need for more outreach.
Chairperson Peterson nominated Heidi Morris to head up guided walks, to put together dates, and prepare a press release.
Discussion ensued which included outreach to schools and Scouts. It was decided that this item would be discussed further in March.
The following goals were agreed upon.
2018 Green Space Goals:
To enhance community outreach by putting a plan together for additional nature hikes.
Continue to approve and install signage for 2018.
Continue our annual discovery hike.
Review and develop Access plans for Green Space Properties.
A motion was made by Janulis, seconded by Graves, that this matter be Approved. The motion carried by the following vote:

Stewardship Options for 2018
Attachments:
Matt Einheuser presented results of the survey and discussed options that were selected by the GSAB. There was a general consensus on the prairie installation option for the Ruby Property.
Discussion ensued.
Director Elwert also inquired with the group on continuing to support Phragmites at the Innovation Hills Location.
There was a general consensus to support Innovation Hills Phragmites removal as long as principal is not used from Green Space Fund.
There was no opposition.

Discovery Hike 2018
Jayson Graves discussed the Discovery Hike and presented draft flyers and a press release.
Darlene Janulis mentioned the need for larger outreach by the board and
discussed reaching out to schools.
Director Elwert mentioned that the office will send out revised flyers to the GSAB and coordinate the request to use the River Crest Medical Parking lot.
