Proclamation in Recognition of James Kavalick

Whereas, James (Jamie) Kavalick has been a deputy with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office for over 24 years with a career spanning corrections, road patrol and investigations, and in every capacity he has dedicated his life to the service of others; and
Whereas, while on duty the morning of June 5, 2019, Deputy Kavalick helped save the life of Baldo Lampasona, who complained to his son, Giuseppe, of chest pain at a job site in Rochester Hills before collapsing on the driveway; and
Whereas, responding to the 911 call made by Giuseppe, who began CPR on his father, Deputy Kavalick arrived on the scene to find Mr. Lampasona in distress and without pulse; and
Whereas, Deputy Kavalick quickly retrieved his AED (defibrillator) and delivered one shock to Mr. Lampasona, upon which his color began to return along with his pulse and breathing; and
Whereas, Rochester Hills Fire Department arrived and took over patient care and then transported Mr. Lampasona to Troy Beaumont Hospital for further treatment, where Deputy Kavalick arrived to confirm his well-being.
Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Rochester Hills hereby recognize and thank Deputy Jamie Kavalick for taking swift and appropriate action to help save the life of Baldo Lampasona in the City of Rochester Hills.
Be It Further Resolved, we wish Jamie, and his family whom he adores, great happiness and success in all of life.
