Request for Approval of a Resolution of Support for the Road Commission for Oakland County to establish a statutory speed limit of 45 miles per hour along the gravel portion of Washington Road

Whereas, Washington Road is a gravel road under the jurisdiction of the Road Commission for Oakland County, and
Whereas, the unposted speed limit for a gravel roadway in Michigan is assumed to be 55 miles per hour (55 MPH), and
Whereas, the City of Rochester has also considered the issues pertaining to the Speed Limit posted along Washington Road and has requested the Road Commission for Oakland County establish a statutory speed limit of 45 MPH, and
Whereas, the Road Commission for Oakland County has requested a Resolution of support to establish and post the statutory speed limit of 45 MPH along the gravel portion of Washington Road;
Resolved, that the Rochester Hills City Council hereby supports pursuant to 1949 PA 300, as amended, Section 257.627, Subsection (10), the City’s request to the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) to establish and post the statutory speed limit of 45 MPH on the gravel portion of Washington Road.
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that a certified copy of this Resolution is filed with the City Clerk of Rochester Hills, Oakland County, Michigan.
