Proclamation in Recognition of Camille Douglas

Whereas, Camille Douglas is a senior at Rochester High School and staff member of the award winning high school newspaper, The Talon; and
Whereas, Camille traveled along with three other students and their adviser to Boston for the Journalism Education Association/National Scholastic Press Association Fall National High School Journalism Convention from November 14-17, 2013; and
Whereas, Camille was awarded 5th place out of 750 other scholastic journalists in the nation for "News Story of the Year" for her story about Common Core; and
Whereas, while attending the conference, Camille received honorable mention in the feature write-off competition and she and her team accepted the Pacemaker Award acknowledging The Talon as one of the best high school newspapers in the country.
Now Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Mayor and City Council of Rochester Hills hereby recognize Camille Douglas for being an outstanding writer for The Talon school newspaper and congratulate her on her great success.
